The ambitious €250M renovation plan of Greece’s largest privately-owned hotel chain, Mitsis Hotels

As Greece’s largest privately-owned hotel chain, Mitsis Hotels has been a tourism pioneer for over 45 years now, making its own mark on Greece’s tourist industry, driven by a customer-centred philosophy and the promise of an unparalleled holiday experience.

The Group’s rich hospitality blend consists of a premium collection, all-inclusive, family hotels, city hotels, meetings, social events, spa resorts and wedding hotels. Reimagining the meaning of modern luxury and determined to continuously add value to their products and brands, Mitsis Hotels invests time, capital and expertise to bring to life ambitious infrastructure projects, welcoming 350,000 guests annually to a new day of Greek hospitality.

Mitsis Hotels has embarked on a large-scale investment plan, creating an unprecedented renovation story.

Mitsis Hotels is collaborating with renowned international architects, master planners and interior designers, including WATG and Wimberly Interiors, to continuously upgrade the Group’s facilities and customise its services to better meet guests’ evolving needs.

In the years 2017-2021, Mitsis Hotels already implemented an ambitious €100M renovation and refurbishment programme, which will be followed by an additional €250M plan to fully upgrade the Group’s 17 high-end hotels and resorts across 5 destinations in Greece. The full plan is expected to be completed by 2026.

At Mitsis Norida Beach Hotel in Kos, the Group focused on new opportunities for recreation, food & beverage and revamping outdoor spaces, creating open areas with a complete side-to-side panorama of the sea. The large pool that previously existed was transformed into five concept ones, creating intimate spaces for guests. Three brand-new à la carte restaurants were also added to enrich the hotel’s F&B offering and amaze guests with impeccable tastes.

Mitsis Summer Palace Beach Hotel is located on a stunning elevated foreland on the island of Kos. The creation of terraced pools has allowed for an impressive panoramic sea view and a new Mediterranean restaurant has become the new hub of the hotel. A rooftop sunset bar and a family-oriented restaurant experience with barbecue tables and sand underfoot are also introduced to maximise guests’ Mediterranean experience. Refurbishment of rooms includes the introduction of sophisticated, modern materials and plunge pools, creating a sense of luxury and privacy. The renovation of over 50 additional Mitsis Summer Palace guest rooms will take place in 2022.

The renovation of Mitsis Rinela Beach Resort & Spa in Crete is currently being implemented in phases, reinforcing the village-like charm of the resort and adding a modern aesthetic to its facilities. 192 rooms have already been upgraded to brand new superior types, featuring suites and villas, appealing to a broader customer profile and contributing to repeated visitation. Animated garden spaces with running water and fragrant Mediterranean vegetation further contribute to the calming ambience of the resort. New gardens are added to the rooftops of adjoining villas to optimise real estate and contribute to sustainability efforts. Upcoming projects at Mitsis Rinela Beach Resort & Spa include the introduction of over 100 renovated rooms and a Secret Bar in 2022.

Further upcoming projects include new investments, the renovation of 140 guest rooms at Mitsis Rodos Village Beach Hotel & Spa, the introduction of a brand-new beach bar at Mitsis Faliraki Beach Hotel & Spa and a new retail experience at Mitsis Blue Domes Resort & Spa.

All aforementioned projects are harmoniously incorporated in the surrounding natural environment and local architectural style, abiding by Mitsis Hotels’ comprehensive green practices and local community development philosophy. Mitsis Hotels’ impressive renovation programme also takes into account each property’s past and current performance, market and industry trends, as well as short- and long-term opportunities, to ensure the Group’s continued success.
