Asia Pacific roars back

The Asia Pacific hotel industry reported its best performance levels since the first quarter of the year, according to October 2020 data from STR.

Occupancy and revpar levels were the highest for any month in the region since January 2020, while the ADR level was the highest since March 2020.

Asia-Pacific hotel occupancy decreased by 23.2% to 54.1% in October, with ADR falling 23.7% to $74.08 and revpar dropping 41.4% to $40.07.

In mainland China occupancy was down 3.1% to 66.1%, with ADR dropping by 9.3% to : CNY440.18 and revpar down 12.1% to CNY290.82. Boosted by Golden Week at the beginning of the month, the occupancy and revpar levels were the highest for any month in China since November 2019, while the ADR level was the highest since January 2020.
