Occupancy across the UK reached 70% on 29 August, the highest level seen in the metric since 4 March, according to STR.
The company said that it saw “very slight weekday increases, week on week”.
Thomas Emanuel, director, STR, said: “The weekend peaks are still highly evident, but the UK’s hotels enjoyed the bank holiday weekend. Average rate declines have also sifted substantial; 19% year-on-year. Revpar declines varied more greatly from late - last week they were between 18% and 50%.”
Emanuel said that some cities had seen a boost - with Edinburgh at 65% occupancy. London was still lagging, on 37%.
Regional UK occupancy saw occupancy of 75% on the bank holiday Saturday, although the same night last year was at 94%.
Emanuel said: “Of course the lack of conference, corporate and international visitation is continuing to impact the capital. A recent study showed that, unlike Europe’s other four largest economies, where three quarter of workers had returned to the office, in the UK that was only one third.”
