Eco resort for Club Med

Club Med is to open the 350-room Club Med Essaouira eco resort in Morocco a cost of €90m.

Owner Fosun will also invest in two existing properties in the country.

The group will add 100 rooms and a swimming pool at Club Med Marrakech La Palmerale at a cost of €25m. A further €3.5m will be spent on the opening of Club Med Yasmina overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar.

Club Med president Henri Giscard d’Estaing said: “Club Med has confirmed its commitment to Morocco through projects in Marrakech La Palmeraie, Yasmina and Essaouira. These various investments will enable Club Med to meet the expectations of families and active couples even more effectively.

“At a time when tourism is going through a particularly difficult period, these announcements symbolise our desire to move forward, to strengthen the strong and close bonds that we have built and to contribute to the international presence of Morocco thanks to our position as world leader in premium all-inclusive resorts.”
