Europe ‘improved but low’

Europe’s hotel industry reported improved but low performance, according to July data from STR.

Europe hotel occupancy declined 66.4% to 26.5% in July, with ADR down 20.9% to €96.43 and revpar falling 73.4% to €25.51.

The absolute occupancy and revpar levels were up from June, but remained the lowest for any July on record in Europe.

In the UK occupancy was down by 67.1% to 28.0%, with ADR falling 36.3% to £66.74 and revpar down 79.0% to £18.67. While up slightly from June, each metric was the lowest for any July in STR’s UK database.

In Ireland occupancy fell 62.6% to 32.6%, with ADR dropping 24.6% to €106.94 and revpar down 71.8% to €34.85. Each of the three key performance metrics were up significantly from June, but occupancy and revpar came in lower than any other July in STR’s Ireland database.
