Fears of disruption grow

The majority of respondents to Deloitte’s latest hotel sentiment survey expected disruption to last beyond next year.

The group reported that 46% of those asked believed that distressed activity would accelerate from the fourth quarter, with 32% expecting this to occur from the first quarter next year onwards.

Ninety-three per cent of respondents expected the disruption to last beyond next year, against 82% one month ago, whilst 40% believed that it would last even longer.

Respondents were continuing to prioritise cash management as a number one priority over the next four weeks. The next four weeks however were expected to see a lower focus on financial considerations (-9ppts vs. last month) at the expense of operations (+11ppts) and stakeholder relationships (+2ppts) as hotels re-opened.
