IHG adds India resort

InterContinental Hotels Group has signed a management agreement with Riteway and Medha Projects to open a Holiday Inn Resort to the state of Karnataka.

The Holiday Inn Resort Sakleshpur Western Ghats was expected to open in the first quarter of 2023.

The resort will feature a pool, a fitness centre and a spa for guests to relax and rejuvenate. For travellers driving down from the nearby cities, Holiday Inn Resort Sakleshpur Western Ghats will feature ample parking space. Additionally, positioned as a complete destination on its own, the resort will house a retail outlet, an indoor recreation centre and an outdoor recreation facility making it a perfect destination for vacationers or guests on corporate retreats.

Sudeep Jain, managing director, South West Asia, IHG said: “We are thrilled to announce the signing of our first Holiday Inn Resort in southern India, in partnership with Riteway and Medha Projects. In a country driven by domestic tourism, our Holiday Inn hotels and resorts are great destinations for travellers looking for activities and amenities to keep the whole family engaged and relaxed, and we are committed to expand the brand to new markets in India.

“On opening in 2023, I am confident that Holiday Inn Resort Sakleshpur Western Ghats will be an excellent choice for travellers looking for a relaxing staycation or vacation in a beautiful hill station or guests looking to organise MICE events in unique and serene surroundings. Domestic travel will become ever more important in the coming years. The value proposition that the Holiday Inn brand offers to the owners and guests is apt and will be exemplified in the new Holiday Inn Resort in Sakleshpur.

Babu Reddy, managing partner, Riteway and Medha Project, said: “We are thrilled to join hands for the upcoming Holiday Inn Resort Sakleshpur Western Ghats - the first Holiday Inn Resort in Southern India, and are happy to become a part of IHG’s global family. With the combination of the natural bounties of the Western Ghats, a preferred brand like Holiday Inn and IHG’s proven expertise, we are confident that on opening, the new Holiday Inn Resort will offer unique experiences to guests visiting Sakleshpur and will become a preferred destination for travellers visiting this part of India.”
