Mitsis Hotels successfully completes 1st international pilot holiday ‘Safe Corridor’ in Rhodes

As Greece’s largest privately-owned hotel chain, Mitsis Hotels has been a tourism pioneer for over 40 years now, making its own mark on Greece’s tourist industry, driven by a customer – centered philosophy and the promise of an unparalleled holiday experience.

Contributing to the safe restart of Greek tourism

Mitsis Hotels Group successfully completed the first pilot holiday program ‘Safe Corridor’ in collaboration with Sunweb Group & Transavia, with the approval of the Dutch and Greek governments. Considering the health & safety of its guests a top priority and having drawn up a detailed action plan and operational protocols, Mitsis Grand Hotel, the only 5* ultra all-inclusive beach hotel at the heart of Rhodes, hosted for 8 days 188 selected guests out of 25,000 initial applicants. All guests and 100 hotel staff members completed the program totally healthy and safe, conveying an optimistic message for the safe restart of tourism to the world.

The success of the project contributes to the emergence of Greece as a safe holiday destination once again and marks the beginning of the tourist season and the gradual return to normality.

The first pilot holiday ‘Safe Corridor’

Aiming to collect data on safe and responsible travel during the pandemic, 'Safe Corridor' was carried out with detailed health & safety protocols that included PCR and Rapid tests prior arrival to and before departure from Greece, which were all negative, while all guests will take a new PCR test upon returning home. Respectively, the hotel staff underwent PCR testing before the start and at the end of the program. To ensure the success of the project, all guests and direct contact staff remained exclusively within the hotel premises, enjoying the specially designed entertainment program and dining at the hotel's open-space restaurants and bars.

The program received a warm welcome and sincere support from all competent authorities, which contributed to its successful implementation, while its results and valuable data are expected to be publicly announced soon to offer a positive perspective on travel. All visitors left for their homeland, excited by the Greek hospitality and the excellent services, assuring that they will return to Greece for their summer holidays.

“We are proud to have completed the pilot programme with absolute success and would like to thank Greek authorities for their support. We feel very optimistic about the summer season 2021 and we are looking forward to welcoming all our guests back to Mitsis Safe Summer, at one our 17 unique destinations in Greece, as we always do for 40 years now”, Mitsis Hotels Managing Director Stavros Mitsis said.
