Premier Inn is hoping to take advantage of a boom in domestic tourism with the opening of five new UK seaside properties in the run up to summer.
The first to open was a new 100-bedroom Premier Inn at Sandown Seafront on the Isle of Wight at the end of February, this will be followed by hotels at Scarborough, Bournemouth, Blackpool, and Thurso.
In total the Whitbread-owned company will add 545 bedrooms across popular coastal and leisure locations. The new openings are a mixture of freehold and leasehold developments.
“Nearly half of all Premier Inn customers stay with us on leisure breaks every year. Our leisure guests are a crucial part of our business and we have been steadily expanding our network in popular leisure and seaside locations to meet existing demand from our guests and caterer for the growing trend for UK breaks and staycations,” Alex Flach, UK Development Director at Whitbread, said.
