Travelodge names new chairman

Travelodge has appointed Martin Robinson as its new chairman.

Robinson has a long track record in the hospitality sector, having spent 17 years at Center Parcs as CEO of their European business and chairman of the UK arm.

He currently chairs the UK business for Burger King and holiday park operator Parkdean Resorts and has also served on the boards of Disneyland Paris and office provider Regus.

“It is a great honour to join Travelodge, which is not just a British hotel icon but also a model of a great value brand. Its resilience has helped it to navigate through the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, is an exciting time to be joining the company, as it embarks on the next exciting phase in its development,” Robinson said.

Robinson replaces Brian Wallace, who stepped down from the position in September for health reasons and died in November.

Travelodge's chief operating officer, Craig Bonner, is currently serving as interim CEO after Peter Gowers announced he would be leaving his position at the end of 2020.
