The Red Sea Project is Saudi Arabia’s flagship leisure tourism initiative: a new luxury destination being created in one of the world’s last natural hidden treasures on The Red Sea in Saudi Arabia. The exquisite destination will be developed to the highest standards of sustainable development. Including an archipelago of 90+ untouched natural islands, dormant volcanoes, vast desert, beautiful mountains, rich nature and inspiring culture, the Project will exceed expectations with the highest standards of service excellence and provide a seamless personalized experience that will position Saudi Arabia on the global tourism
Extending over an area of 28,000 km2 and located 500km north of Jeddah, the Red Sea Project is within three hours’ flying time of 250 million people and within an eight-hour flight for 80% of the world’s population. Development is currently underway on essential enabling infrastructure, including roads, a bridge connecting the primary hub island to the mainland, residential and corporate facilities and utilities networks. The first phase of the development will include 3,000 hotel rooms across five islands and two inland sites, as well as commercial, retail and leisure facilities, a dedicated airport and other infrastructure.
The destination will welcome its first guests by the end of 2022. On completion in 2030, the destination will deliver up to 8,000 hotel rooms across 22 islands and six inland sites. The annual number of visitors will be carefully managed to avoid over-tourism and ensure that every guest enjoys a uniquely memorable experience.
The Red Sea Project will offer visitors the exclusive opportunity to explore a distinctively diverse region of the world, including experiences for nature lovers, outdoor adventurers, cultural explorers and wellness seekers, all delivered to the highest standards of personalized, luxury service.
