The Moroccan Agency for Tourism Development – SMIT is a government institution created in December 2007 by the Moroccan government in order to implement the development strategy of the tourism offer in Morocco. In an increasingly competitive international context among tourism destinations where differentiation is getting tougher, investment attractiveness has become one of the major challenges tourism industries have to deal with. SMIT, therefore, puts investment promotion and capital raising at the heart of its concerns with an ambition to increase the profile and attractiveness of the Moroccan destinations it oversees. Designing the offer, identifying and highlighting tourism resources, mobilising land, guiding public and private investment, supporting private investors and tour operators, facilitating their development in Morocco… These are at the core of SMIT involvement.
