The Barceló Group was reported to have sold the Formentor Hotel in Majorca to an unnamed buyer.
The company bought the property in 2006 for €70m from the Buades family and the Costa i Llobera Foundation.
The company’s co-president, Simón Pedro Barceló, told the local press: “The purchase option made by a foreign investment fund has to be effected by 3 December. The offer has been made and despite what has happened this year with the Covid-19 crisis, the price that was agreed will not be renegotiated.”
It was reported that an investment fund linked to Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts had shown an interest in the hotel.
Barceló said that the company had sufficient liquidity, commenting: “We are a healthy company. The situation is what it is and we do not need to make sales of any kind.”
