Archer Hotel Capital buys Shelbourne Hotel Dublin from Kennedy Wilson

Archer Hotel Capital has acquired The Shelbourne, a 5-star luxury hotel in Dublin’s city centre from Kennedy Wilson.

Located at 27 St Stephen's Green, the hotel currently comprises 265 rooms & suites, four restaurants, a swimming pool, gym and a spa & wellness centre.

The acquisition is part of Archer’s strategy to expand in markets in which it is already established, which include Spain, Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Sweden, Ireland and England.

Following the company’s £215 million acquisition of the Hoxton Shoreditch and the Hoxton Holborn, co-CEO Dominic Seyrling exclusively told Hospitality Investor that Archer Hotel Capital was considering other potential acquisitions, noting “From our point of view, it makes sense almost to double down in these markets. We want to increase the exposure to the specific markets that we've got and the key markets that we've picked out such as Madrid and Amsterdam.”

Reports around Christmas were that Kennedy Wilson was considering a sale of the hotel for €260 million.

Archer was advised by Arthur Cox, Allen & Overy, Grant Thornton, TFT, WSP and Lockton. Third party financing was provided by Deutsche Bank.

What they said

Dominic Seyrling, co-CEO of Archer said: “We are thrilled to add the Shelbourne Hotel to our collection of properties. This acquisition aligns perfectly with our commitment to investing in exceptional assets with enduring value. Archer is dedicated to preserving the Shelbourne Hotel’s legacy while enhancing its offering. Archer looks forward to writing the next chapter in the storied history of this beloved Dublin landmark.”
