Extendam acquires four-star Mercure Den Haag Central in the Hague

Extendam has acquired the four-star Mercure Den Haag Central in the centre of The Hague, Hospitality Investor can reveal.

Situated over 11 floors, the building comprises 159 rooms, 1,200 sqm of common areas and meeting rooms, a bar, a restaurant, a breakfast area as well as a terrace overlooking directly onto Spui Square, one of the city’s main squares.

Extendam will renovate the hotel, with the aim of improving the environmental performance of the hotel - which hasn’t benefitted from renovation works since 2007 – and is aiming for a high-level ESG certification.

The hotel will be operated by Capital Hospitality Europe, which will oversee the repositioning of the hotel through a change of brand and a new F&B offer.

What they said

Jean-Marc Palhon, president of Extendam said: We are delighted with this new investment in The Hague. The Netherlands enjoys a stable economy and outperforms the Eurozone in terms of GDP growth, mainly thanks to a favourable interest rate environment and the activity of its companies.”

Bertrand Pullès and Matthieu de Lauzon, respectively managing director and partner at Extendam both added: “Like Amsterdam, The Hague has introduced a moratorium on the construction of new hotel rooms, which will naturally limit hotel competition, increase the city's land pressure and allow the existing hotel stock to improve its occupancy rates and average prices.”
