Fattal Group buys Grand Hotel in Brighton for £60m

Fattal Group, the Israeli owner of Leonardo Hotels UK and Ireland has acquired the 5-star Grand Hotel in Brighton.

According to The Times, which first reported the story, the purchase price was up to £60 milliom.

In 2014, the hotel - which has 201 rooms spread over seven floors – was sold by De Vere hotel group to Wittington Investments, controlled by the Weston family. The Weston family, which also controls Fortnum & Mason and Associated British Foods, has now sold the seafront hotel to Fattal Group.

The Grand Hotel underwent a renovation programme in 2019, which saw the restoration of the Victorian façade of the hotel as well as the property’s original design features. Following its recent sale to Fattal Group, it will undergo a significant refurbishment of its rooms and facilities.

The purchase of the Grand Hotel comes after Fattal in October 2022, purchased the former Le Méridien hotel on Piccadilly - now called The Dilly - for over £80million and announced plans for a £90 million refurbishment.

Leonardo Hotels now operates 52 hotels across the UK and Ireland, while the wider Fattal group owns and operates more than 200 hotels in over 100 destinations.

The sale of the Grand was brokered by JLL Hotels.
