NUMA expands into the UK with new London hotel

NUMA is set to open a new hotel in London, marking its entry into the UK hotel market.

Located in Bloomsbury, the new 86-key NUMA Bloom will take over the former Bedford Corner Hotel at 11-13 Bailey Street, with the new hotel to be upgraded to allow guests to use their smartphones to check in, check out, open their room doors and communicate with NUMA’s 24h digital guest service team.

Following its entry into the UK, NUMA is now present in 15 European countries, across 33 cities. The company is now looking for properties in locations such as Brighton, Manchester, Bristol, Belfast, Edinburgh and Glasgow in order to further its UK expansion plans.

The deal was advised by the Knight Frank hotel brokerage team.

Why it matters

NUMA's expansion highlights the growing trend of digitalisation in the hotel sector, with stakeholders being increasingly drawn to innovative, tech-forward hotel concepts. This trend towards digitalisation could influence investment priorities, encouraging investors to consider the technological capabilities of their hotel investments - hotels which are advanced in this area could become more attractive to investors seeking to capitalize on the increasing demand for tech-enabled hotel accommodation.

What they said

Philipp Rohweder, director, Real Estate of the NUMA Group said: “We are thrilled to announce our expansion into the UK and our first property in London. As Europe's most popular tourist destination and with a population of almost 9 million, this cosmopolitan city could not be a better fit for the NUMA success model. With the launch in London Bloomsbury, we have taken another decisive step towards being present in all European metropolises.”

Dimitri Chandogin, president of the NUMA Group added: "As Europe's leading provider of high-quality digital accommodation, we are delighted to be entering the UK market and are well prepared to further expand our portfolio in London and the UK. In the long term, we plan to be present in all major UK cities.”

Henry Jackson, head of hotel brokerage at Knight Frank added: “We are delighted to have acted for Philipp and the NUMA team on their first hotel in London. NUMA provides landlords with an established and credible operator and we are looking forward to see the further rollout of hotels across the UK.
