Hilton is set to open three hotels under three of its brands in Lisbon city centre.
In spring 2024, the hotel company will open Duo Hotel Lisbon under its Curio Collection by Hilton brand. The hotel will comprise 75 rooms in a traditional 19th century building, an all-day dining outlet, café, bar, meeting space and a Portuguese pasteleria.
Marking its brand debut in Lisbon, 157-key Hampton by Hilton Lisbon Baixa has just begun construction and will open its doors in 2025, and will feature a rooftop space with outdoor pool, a fitness centre, parking facilities and 250 square metres of open-concept social spaces.
In 2026, Canopy by Hilton Lisbon Praça Sao Paulo will open, offering 84 guest rooms, a hub complete with a café and bar for guests to work, relax and socialize, 120 square metres of meeting space, a fitness centre and parking facilities. The hotel will be the first Canopy by Hilton branded property in Portugal and is currently in the licensing and planning phase.
Feuring Asset Management has inked a management agreement with Hilton to develop all three hotels.
Why it matters
As we kick off, the R&R conference in Lisbon, Hilton’s announcement and its interest in Lisbon further emphasises the popularity of hotels in leisure-driven destinations like Lisbon as the leisure sector continues to remain the main driver of growth in the hotel sector. Hilton currently has nine trading hotels and 11 pipeline hotels in Portugal. Of the trading properties, two are located in Lisbon. Hilton has opened approximately 20 hotels in Europe this year, with around 200 new hotels planned in the next three to five years.
